Prof. Dr. Beate Sodian
The project led by Beate Sodian, Professor of Developmental Psychology at the LMU, is entitled “From an implicit to an explicit understanding of mental conditions in the cognitive development of children” and investigates the basic human ability to attribute mental states to oneself and to others. While this understanding remains implicit in young children and shows itself only in communicative abilities and action expectations, it becomes explicit at preschool age and can be verbalized. The group led by Professor Sodian is investigating this development for the first time based on a longitudinal study with children aged between seven months and six years.
Beate Sodian's work group includes the young academics Dr. Maria Licata, Iyad Aldaqre, M.A. and Dipl.-Psych. Tobias Schuwerk.
