Dr. Antonia Misch
Winter Semester 2019/20
Antonia Misch is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Developmental Psychology at LMU Munich. She studied Psychology at the University of Leipzig. After finishing her Ph.D. on the topic of "Young children's loyalty to the group" at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig, she held a two-year postdoctoral position at Yale University.
The topic of her habilitation is the development of group psychology in childhood. In particular, she investigates the emergence of feelings of belonging and togetherness, the consequences of group membership as well as how to overcome divisions between social groups.
During her stay as Junior Researcher in Residence at CAS, she will work on the publication of a research project in which she found that the anticipation of collaboration with outgroup members is sufficient to reduce ingroup bias. Furthermore, she organizes the workshop "From Ingroup Bias to Collective Action", that brings together international experts to discuss various aspects of intragroup psychology, including ingroup bias, group cohesion and collective action.
