Prof. Lora Anne Viola, Ph.D.

Lora Anne Viola is Assistant Professor of Politics at the John F. Kennedy Institute at Freie Universität Berlin. She has been a Jean Monnet Fellow at the European University Institute and a senior researcher at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB).

Her research focuses on international institutions and global order, often with a special focus on US hegemonic power. Her article "Putting Path Dependence in Its Place" (Journal of Theoretical Politics, together with T. Rixen) was awarded the American Political Science Association's 2016 Alexander L. George Award. Currently she is working on a new DFG funded project titled "Trust and Transparency in an Age of Surveillance (TATAS)". Viola's recent publications include "Inequality in International Institutions", a monograph forthcoming with Cambridge University Press.

She a Visiting Fellow at CAS in March 2019 and is part of the CAS Research Group "Power Shifts and Institutional Change in International Institutions" of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Zangl.
