Social Theory and Social Psychology

Jürgen Straub is professor for social theory and social psychology at Ruhr-Universität Bochum.

His research areas include social and cultural psychology, social theory, and theory of action. He is a renowned expert in social identity theory, biographical theory, and narrative psychology. His publications include Historisch-psychologische Biographieforschung (1989). He also (co-)edited Narration, Identity and Historical Consciousness (2005) and Pursuit of Meaning (2006).

Jürgen Straub is a Visiting Fellow in January 2019 upon invitation from Dr. Julian Müller (CAS Junior Researcher in Residence 2018/19) and will be functioning as the respondent to Julian Müller's lunch talk on "Selbstfestlegungen und Selbstbindungen. Zu Funktion und Erfolg von Konversionserzählungen" on 10 January 2019.
