Brian S. Silverman holds the J.R.S. Prichard and Ann Wilson Chair in Management at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management. He previously was Assistant Professor at Harvard Business School and has been Visiting Professor at Wharton School, Columbia University, and London Business School. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.

Brian Silverman’s research focuses on the ways in which firms’ strategies and organizational structures interact to affect their performance – in particular, their ability to access and exploit technological capabilities. Among other journals, his work has appeared in Administrative Science Quarterly, American Journal of Sociology, Journal of Law and Economics, Management Science, Research Policy, and Strategic Management Journal. Recent awards for his research include the 2017 Strategic Management Journal Best Paper Prize and the 2017 Gould Prize from the American Journal of Sociology.

Brian S. Silverman is a member of the CAS Research Group "Platforms as Organizational Forms" of Prof. Dr. Tobias Kretschmer.
