Orfeo Fioretos is Associate Professor of Political Science at Temple University, Philadelphia.

His research focuses on international cooperation, especially the formal and informal institutions that structure economic relations among states. He was recently August Wilhelm Scheer Visiting Professor at Technical University Munich, and a Fulbright Fellow at King’s College London. Fioretos holds a Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University.

His work includes "Creative Reconstructions: Multilateralism and European Varieties of Capitalism after 1950" (Cornell University Press, 2011), and edited volumes such as the "Oxford Handbook of Historical Institutionalism" (2016) and "International Politics and Institutions in Time" (Oxford University Press, 2017). His ongoing projects concern the origins and evolution of informal international institutions and pathways of reform in global economic governance.

Orfeo Fioretos is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in May and June 2019 and is part of the CAS Research Group "Power Shifts and Institutional Change in International Institutions" of Prof. Dr. Bernhard Zangl. On 28 May he will hold a Lunch Talk together with Stacie Goddard on "The Future of Global Order. Institutional Adjustments to Global Power Shifts". He will also participate in the workshop "International Institutions in an Age of Global Power Shifts: Negotiating Change" on 27 and 28 June 2019.
