Keith Dowding is Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Political Philosophy in the School of Politics and International Relations, Research School of Social Sciences, Australian National University (Canberra).

He holds a Ph.D. from Nuffield College, Oxford University and was recently PPE Visiting Fellow, Free University Amsterdam. He has published over twenty books most recently Rational Choice and Political Power Bristol University Press, 2019; Economic Perspectives on Government (with Brad Taylor), Palgrave, 2019; Power, Luck and Freedom: Collected Essays, Manchester University Press, 2017, Policy Agendas in Australia (with Aaron Martin), Palgrave, 2017, and The Philosophy and Methods of Political Science Palgrave 2016. He edited the Journal of Theoretical Politics 1996-2013. He has two major research themes at present – the methods political philosophy and the empirical analysis comparative political careers.

Keith Dowding is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in November 2019 and March 2020 and is part of the CAS Research Group "Exceptional Political Dynamics: Temporality, Turbulence, Transformation" of Prof. Dr. Klaus H. Goetz. He will participate in the workshop on "Researching Dynamic Politics: Data, Methods, Theories" on 28 and 29 November 2019.
