Gianni Del Panta is Post-doc research fellow in the Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Siena, Italy.

He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Siena. His articles have been published in Democratization, Government & Opposition, and Italian Political Science Review, whilst the book Egypt between Revolution and Counterrevolution has been recently published in Italian by Il Mulino.

Del Panta's research focuses on democratization, authoritarian regimes and revolution. In particular, he is interested in North Africa and in evaluating how revolutionary situations in authoritarian contexts evolve over time.

Gianni Del Panta is a Visiting Fellow at CAS from November 2019 to January 2020 and is part of the CAS Research Group "Exceptional Political Dynamics: Temporality, Turbulence, Transformation" of Prof. Dr. Klaus H. Goetz. He will participate in the workshop on "Researching Dynamic Politics: Data, Methods, Theories" on 28 and 29 November 2019.
