Prof. Chad Schoen
Prof. Chad Schoen is Professor of Mathematics at Duke University.
His research interests lie in the field of algebraic geometry; he is primarily concerned with the study of algebraic cycles in the context of the Bloch-Beilinson Theorems. These theorems contain a fundamental connection between algebraic geometry and algebraic number theory which could only be proved in a small number of examples to date. Chad Schoen is working on the construction of examples which demonstrate both evidence for these theorems and certain pathologies of the objects involved.
Chad Schoen will be at the CAS as a visiting fellow in July 2012 as well as in July and August 2013 following an invitation from Prof. Andreas Rosenschon. During his visit, he will give two lectures at the Mathematical Institute of the LMU.
