Emeran A. Mayer is Professor at the Department of Medicine, Physiology and Psychiatry of the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA.

He is a world renowned gastroenterologist and neuroscientist with 35 years of experience in the study of clinical and neurobiological aspects of how the digestive system and the nervous system interact in health and disease. In 2016 he published the highly acclaimed book "The Mind-Gut Connection".

Emeran Mayer is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in June 2018 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Alexander Gerbes in the context of the CAS Research Focus "Liliputanian World: the How and Why of Microbiomes".

On 20 June he will give a lecture on "How Important is the Gut Microbiome for Our Brain Health?".
