Macarena Marín received her Ph.D. from the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research in Braunschweig in the field of protein structure analysis.

In her works, Marín has been able to provide initial insight into the structure of these proteins, as well as describing several of their fundamental biochemical characteristics.

At the LMU Munich, she will work with the director of the Emmy Noether Project Dr. Thomas Ott at the Institute for Genetics. As part of her research program, she will cooperate with groups from the Genetic Center, the MPI for Biochemistry and the Chair for Anthropology and Human Genetics of the LMU. She will thus actively support the scientific interconnecting of the project within the young scientists campus Martinsried. Scientist Macarena Marín will be at the CAS as a visiting fellow from the beginning of January until the end of March 2011. In her research project, she is concerned with Remorin proteins. This group of proteins forms part of the immune system of plants and regulates essential signal transduction paths.
