Petra Louis is a Senior Research Fellow at the Rowett Institute of Nutrition and Health at the University of Aberdeen.

She investigates how human health can be improved through dietary means by modulating the composition and activity of the gut microbiota. With her research she seeks to help to provide scientifically-based dietary advice as well as aid the food industry in developing health-promoting foods.

Petra Louis is a Visiting Fellow in November 2018 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Erwin Frey in the context of the CAS Research Focus "Microbiome".

She will be the keynote speaker during the workshop "Theory and in vitro Model Systems" on 8 November 2018 and will give the keynote lecture on "The Human Gut Microbiota – Metabolic Activities and Dietary Modulation".
