Biological Chemistry

Eitan Lerner is senior lecturer at the Department of Biological Chemistry at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

He is dedicated to the direct measurement of the dynamics of protein systems and how these dynamics influence their activity. His experimental techniques allow to visualize the molecules in high spatial and temporal resolution: one molecule at a time, protein after protein. These techniques can be used, for example, to measure the molecular mechanisms that lead to bacterial resistance to antibiotic molecules. He is also investigating the mechanisms involved in transcriptional regulation in bacteria and signal transduction in eukaryotic cells.

Eitan Lerner is a Visiting Fellow in August 2019 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Thorben Cordes (CAS Young Center). In Munich he is cooperating with Shimon Weiss (UCLA) and Thorben Cordes. Eitan Lerner will give a lecture on "Milestones towards smFRET Empirically-Restrained Structural Modeling of Conformations". It takes place on 2 August 2019 at CeNS as well as on 6 August 2019 at the Faculty of Biology.
