Oliver Gressel is a staff scientist at the Leibniz Institute for Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP) and holds an Affiliated Associate Professorship for Computational Astrophysics at the Niels Bohr Institute (NBI) at the University of Copenhagen.

He is known for his outstanding work in the area of mean-field magnetohydrodynamics and dynamo theory, for which he received the 2015 Johann Wempe Award. His research interests include magnetic turbulence in the interstellar medium and in protoplanetary discs and the influence of the ensuing perturbations on the formation of stars and planets.

Oliver Gressel is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in December 2020 and is part of the CAS Research Group "The Ionisation Structure of Planet Forming Discs and their Atmospheres" of Prof. Dr. Barbara Ercolano.
