Prof. Dr. Daniele Giordano

Daniele Giordano is professor at the Department of Earth Sciences of the University of Turin, Italy.

He obtained his doctorate at LMU under the supervision of Donald Dingwell. After two further years as a postdoc at LMU, he held postdoc positions at Roma Tre University, at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver in the group of Isaak Killam Walton and the Institute of Earth Sciences Jaume Almera in Barcelona. In addition to his current position as professor at the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Turin, held since 2011, he is an affiliated researcher at the Istituto Nazionale Di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (IGNV) and the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy.

Daniele Giordano‘s specializations are in the fields of experimental volcanology, geochemistry and petrology. He has a particular interest in modeling the equilibrium and disequilibrium evolution of physical properties of silicate melts and magmas, through which he hopes to gain a physical understanding of magmatic and volcanic processes.

He is a Visiting Fellow in November to December 2018, March and May to June 2019 in the context of the CAS Research Group "Magma to Tephra: Ash in the Earth System" led by Prof. Dr. Donald B. Dingwell.
