Brian Anderson is an Associate Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Texas A&M University, where he also serves as Director of Human Imaging. He holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University, where he also completed a postdoctoral fellowship. In total, he has published over 80 peer-reviewed journal articles on the control of attention.

Anderson’s research examines how learning influences the involuntary allocation of attention. On the learning side, his program of research encompasses a variety of factors including reward learning, aversive conditioning, statistical learning, and past orienting or selection history. On the attention side, his research probes both an increased propensity to orient to a stimulus and facilitated ignoring.

He is a Visiting Fellow in July 2022 in the context of the CAS Research Group „Handling Visual Distraction" led by Prof. Dr. Hermann Müller.
