Rochelle Tobias is a Professor in the Department of German and Romance Languages and Literatures of Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore.

Her research concentrates on modern German literature and intellectual history, as well as German-Jewish culture. She is currently working on a study of aesthetic culture based on the works of George, Hofmannsthal, Rilke and essay works by Adorno.

During her visit in June 2009, Professor Rochelle Tobias, Ph.D., will give a Lecture upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Michael Brenner (LMU, Chair for Jewish History and Culture) on 25 June as part of the series "CAS Collegium". The lecture entitled "At the limits of aesthetic representation: reconciliation in the works of Walter Benjamin and Hermann Cohen" is intended for advanced and doctoral students from the subjects of German, history and philosophy.
