Nicholas Thomas is Professor in the Department of Social Anthropology at the University of Cambridge and, since 2006, Director and Curator of the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

He is the author or editor of nearly fifty books and exhibition catalogs. His current work, building on the book The Return of Curiosity: what museums are good for in the twenty-first century (2016), focuses on the history and future of museums.

Nicholas Thomas is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in June 2022 upon invitation of Prof. Dr. Philipp Schorch (CAS Research Focus “Museology”). He participates in the symposium „What Can Museum Anthropology Do in the 21st Century?”.
