Philosophy

Gottfried Schweiger is Senior Scientist at the Centre for Ethics and Poverty Research at the Universität Salzburg since 2011. There he was, among others, head of the research project Social Justice and Child Poverty (2014-2017). He held Visiting Research Fellowships at the University of St. Gallen as well as at the Universität Bochum.

Gottfried Schweiger primarily researches and teaches on questions of political philosophy, especially on the topics of justice, childhood, poverty and migration. He is co-editor of the book series Philosophy and Poverty (Springer) and the open access Zeitschrift für Praktische Philosophie. In collaboration with Norbert Paulo, he runs the popular German philosophy blog http://praefaktisch.de. Together with Gunter Graf, he wrote two books on the philosophy of childhood: A Philosophical Examination of Social Justice and Child Poverty (London, 2015) and Ethics and the Endangerment of Children‘s Bodies (Cham, 2017). He is currently working on two monographs under contract: Global Justice for Children for Routledge (London) and Child Refugees, Justice and the Capability Approach for Palgrave Macmillan, London.
