Neil MacGregor

Previous Visiting Fellow

Neil MacGregor was director of the British Museum in London from 2002 to 2015, where he was responsible for such groundbreaking exhibitions as "Germany - Memories of a Nation". Neil MacGregor also became known to a wider audience in Germany through his book "A History of the World in 100 Objects". From 2015 to 2018 he was the founding director of the Berlin Humboldt Forum.

In February 2020, Neil MacGregor is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in the context of the CAS Research Focus "What About Art?". On 5 March, he will give a lecture on "Identity Formation: The Role of Museums in the Creation and Inflection of National Narratives" in the main building of the LMU, lecture hall M018. This lecture is the final lecture of the lecture series "What About Art".
