Mark Edward Lewis is Professor of History and Religious Studies at the Standford University.

Mark Edward Lewis's research deals with many aspects of Chinese civilization in the late pre-imperial, early imperial and middle periods (contemporary with the centuries in the West from classical Greece through the early Middle Ages), and with the problem of empire as a political and social form.

Mark Edward Lewis is a Visiting Fellow from July to August 2019 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Armin Selbitschka.

On 10 July 2019 he will give a lecture on "Honor and Shame in Early China" at the Institute of Sinology.
