Prof. Dr. Dr. h. c. Hans Joas

Hans Joas is Ernst-Troeltsch-Professor of Religious Sociology at the Theological Faculty of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.

His research focuses on social philosophy and sociological theory, especially of the American pragmatism and historism; religious sociology and sociology of war and violence as well as the change of values in the modern society.

Hans Joas is a Visiting Fellow at CAS from January to February 2018 in the context of the CAS Research Focus "Models of Change" following an invitation from Prof. Dr. Martin Schulze Wessel. He will give a lecture on "Die Macht des Heiligen. Eine Alternative zur Geschichte von der Entzauberung" on 12 December.
