Alexander C.T. Geppert holds a joint appointment as Associate Professor of History and European Studies and Global Network Associate Professor at NYU New York and NYU Shanghai.

A historian of 19th- and 20th- century western Europe, his work focuses on the nexus of spatiality, knowledge and transcendence in varying configurations, including outer space, miracles, world's fairs and the theory of historiography.

Alexander Geppert is a Visiting Fellow in July 2019 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Helmuth Trischler in the context of the CAS Research Focus "Stardust". On 4 July 2019 he will give a lecture on "Mirror vs. Wheel: Infrastructures in Earth Orbit and the Technopolitics of Outer Space before Apollo".
