Charlotte Canning is Oscar G. Brockett Professor for Theatre History and Criticism at the University of Texas at Austin.

Her areas of expertise are U.S. theatre history (including Broadway, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams), feminist theatre, theatre and American society and historical entertainment industry.

Charlotte M. Canning is a Visiting Fellow in January and February 2020 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Christopher Balme in the context of the CAS Research Focus "Global Dis/Connections". On 22 January 2020 she will give a lecture on "HemisFair '68. The Conquest of the Americas Performed in the Cold War" at the Institute for Theatre Studies.
