Yehuda Hoffman is Professor of Astrophysics and Relativity at the Racah Institute of Physics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
He studies the formation and development of structures in the cosmos. As early as the 1990s, he succeeded in deducing the large-scale distribution of matter in the local universe from the observed velocities of galaxies. Today, this method forms the basis for elaborate computer simulations of the formation of our Milky Way, which are calculated in Jülich, Munich and Barcelona as part of the international CLUES project.
Yehuda Hoffman is a Visiting Fellow at CAS from October to November 2022 upon invitation of Dr. Klaus Dolag and will join the CAS Research Group on "Complex Views and New Clues of the Universe".
