Announcement – Short-term Visiting Fellowships

The Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich is a forum for international discourse at the LMU. It supports cooperation with both domestic and international guests and presents the results of their research at its events.

As part of its program, the CAS offers international scholars the opportunity to apply for positions as

Short-term Visiting Fellowships

for a period of between four weeks and three months in 2023.

Applications should be submitted on the basis of an existing or prospective cooperation with a professor of the LMU.

The Center for Advanced Studies will provide the funding and organizational support for a guest residency lasting at least four weeks and up to three months to take place during the calendar year 2023. Costs will be covered for travel and accommodation along with a lump sum to cover expenses or compensation for lost income according to individual agreement. Guests will receive a workspace in the rooms of the Center, if required and available, and will have access to its services. The participation of guests in the lecture and events program of CAS is desirable.

The Short-term Fellowships are open to professors of all diciplines, preferably from outside Germany, who are highly renowned in their research field. The application should include a description of the project to be undertaken during the time spent at CAS, with a clear portrayal of how the research project will profit from the cooperation at the LMU and which cooperation partners will be involved. The application should also contain details of the applicant’s academic career and a list of their most important publications, and should not exceed 5 pages in length.
