Speaker: Prof. Jack Tannous, Ph.D. | Chair: Dr. Teresa Bernheimer (LMU)

03.06.2019 at 18:00

Over the course of the first millennium AD, scholars writing in Syriac developed a sophisticated tradition of learning and translation in the Middle East. In his talk Jack Tannous will seek to give a history of the development of the various scholarly traditions in Syriac and will ask the question of what, if anything, about the Syriac scholarly tradition was unique.

Jack Tannous is Professor of History at Princeton University.
