Church Fathers in the Margins: Patristic Traditions in Biblical Manuscripts
Many of the paratexts accompanying the text in Greek biblical manuscripts bear the heritage of patristic traditions. The workshop will deal with the following question: how do biblical manuscripts receive patristic traditions, transform them, and contribute to their transmission? The focus will be on the phenomenon of excerption. How is the meaning of the extracts modified by their selection, by their possible transformation, and by the proximity of other extracts? Do these phenomena, along with the choice of authors and works, allow us to define centers of interest or theological projects, even controversial ones?
Participants among others: Reinhart Ceulemans (Löwen), Sien De Groot (Gent), Ilse De Vos (Gent), Christophe Guignard (Straßburg), Tiphaine Lorieux (EPHE, Paris), Panagiotis Manafis (Birmingham), Véronique Somers (Louvain-la-Neuve).
