Vortrag von Prof. Jon K. Maner – "Evolution and Close Relationships: The Sight and Smells of Romantic Attraction"

Referent: Prof. Dr. Jon K. Maner | Diskussionsleitung: Prof. Dr. Dieter Frey

27.07.2011 at 19:15

Evolutionary psychology provides a powerful meta-theoretical framework with which to understand a broad range of complex human behaviors. This talk will describe two recent lines of research illustrating the value of using evolutionary models to understand close romantic relationships. The first line of research focuses on the role visual attention plays in romantic attraction. The second line of research focuses on the way men respond to women’s shifting hormones across the menstrual cycle. Taken together, these lines of research provide insight into the role basic perceptual and biological processes play in close social relationships, and they highlight the value of trying to understand human psychology and behavior from the perspective of evolutionary biology.

Jon K. Maner ist Associate Professor für Sozialpsychologie an der Florida State University und derzeit Visiting Fellow am CAS.
