Dr Moritz Baumstark studied History and Philosophy in Munich, Venice and Edinburgh and obtained his doctorate from Edinburgh University with a thesis on David Hume as a philosophical historian. After a post-doc-period as a Research Fellow at Darwin College, University of Cambridge he held full-time teaching and administrative posts at LMU Munich and at the University of Heidelberg.
From 2012 to 2015 he has coordinated a junior research group on the theme of 'historicization' within the Center of Excellence 'Enlightenment – Religion – Knowledge' at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. He is the editor of a bilingual collection of essays on historicization that appeared in 2016 with the publisher J.B. Metzler.
