Until his retirement, Gunnar Folke Schuppert held the Chair for Political and Administrative Sciences at the Faculty of Law of Humboldt University Berlin. Since 2003, he has also held the research professorship "New Forms of Governance" at the Social Science Research Center Berlin (WZB). In addition to this, he is also Adjunct Professor at the Berlin Hertie School of Governance.

He is one of the leading German scholars in the field of public law. Many of his numerous publications have become standard works, and his writings have been widely acclaimed even outside the boundaries of his field. With his sense for current issues, he is always a "trend setter", in the best sense of the word.

During his two-month stay in Munich in April/May 2010, Gunnar Folke Schuppert will work on several projects with the legal scholars Prof. Dr. Jens Kersten and Prof. Dr. Peter M. Huber as well as further members of the Münchner Centrums für Governance-Forschung. The common research and publication projects will address topics which include "Climate Change as a Security Problem" and the "Governance of Religious Affairs".

In May 2022 he is again a Visiting Fellow at CAS upon invitation of Prof. Dr. Jens Kersten. On 24 May he will give the lecture Verschwörungstheorien und digitale Demokratien.
