Jon K. Maner is Social Psychology Area Director at Florida State University in Tallahassee.

His specialist research areas include evolutionary psychology and behavioral endocrinology. He is particularly interested in the topics of romantic attraction and close bonds, power and rule, as well as social belonging and rejection. He is associate editor of the internationally renowned social psychology journal "Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin".

In July 2011, Jon K. Maner will be at the CAS as a visiting fellow upon invitation from Dr. Maria Agthe (CAS Junior Researcher in Residence 2011), Faculty for Psychology and Education. During this time, they will work together on prejudice phenomena and thus investigate, for example, the influence of variables and motives significant from an evolutionary psychology perspective on the perception of people. Jon K. Maner will also give an evening lecture at the CAS on the topic of "Evolution and close Relationships: The Sights and Smell of Romantic Attraction".
