Martin Widmer is an academic staff member at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa.

His research interests lie in the fields of diophantic analysis and diophantic geometry. He is particularly concerned with qualitative and quantitative questions of Morse functions. He is investigating, for example, certain amounts of algebraic points in terms of the Northcott Characteristic, i.e. the finiteness of subsets of limited height.

In August 2012, Martin Widmer will be at the CAS as a visiting fellow upon invitation from Ulrich Derenthal (CAS Senior Researcher in Residence 2011/12). During his stay, he will work with him and with Dr. Christopher Frei, a member of Ulrich Derenthal's group of young researchers.
