Prof. Dong-Eon Kim, Ph.D.

Previous Visiting Fellow

Dong-Eon Kim is Professor of Physics at POSTECH-Pohang University of Science and Technology in Pohang, Korea, and Director of the Asian Center for Attosecond Science and Technology (CASTECH)) and the Max-Planck Center for Attosecond Science (MPC-AS) in Pohang.

His specialist research areas lie in the development of new light sources as well as electrodynamics in atoms, molecules and nanostructures.

Dong-Eon Kim will be at the CAS as a visiting fellow from June until August 2011 following an invitation from Professor Ferenc Krausz. During his time in Munich, he will intensify the cooperation with the chair for Experimental Physics and Quantum Optics of Ferenc Krausz. The specific intention is to push onwards with works in the fields of photo-electron microscopes for the observation of plasmonic effects in nanostructured surfaces, the interaction of strong fields with nanoparticles and the adiabatic metalization of thin dielectric layers, and the development of an ultrashort UV laser source.
