James Burton, PhD

James Burton is Senior Scientist and Director of the T. Douglas Price Laboratory for Archaeological Chemistry at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He works on the field of archaeometry since decades. His main interest is the development of new archaeometric methods, particularly the use of chemical and isotopic methods for provenience studies. He is especially interested in archaeological hard tissue relics of man and animals for whom he reconstructs environmental parameters, trophic chains, and mobility.

James Burton is a Visiting Fellow at CAS in June 2015 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Gisela Grupe in the context of the CAS Research Focus "Evolutionary Biology".
