Prof. Glenn Penny, Ph.D.

Glenn Penny is Professor of Modern European History, Colonialism and Empire as well as the History of Anthropology at the University of Iowa.

He is interested in relations between Europeans and non-Europeans in the 19th and 20th centuries. His book "Objects of Culture: Ethnology and Ethnographic Museums in Imperial Germany" (2002) was the first comparative study of German ethnology museums.

Glenn Penny will be visiting the CAS in December 2010 as part of the CAS research focus "Globalizing Arts" following an invitation from Professor Christopher Balme and Professor Ulrich Pfisterer, and will participate in the conference "Modernity in Translation".
