Rainer Hegselmann is Director of the Research Center "Modelling and Simulation of Socio-Economic Phenomena (MODUS)" in Bayreuth.

He is one of the pioneers of the "computational philosophy" and developed together with Ulrich Krause the "Bounded Confidence Model", also called Hegselmann-Krause Model, which is used for the clarification of philosophic questions.

Rainer Hegselmann is a Visiting Fellow at CAS from March to April 2016 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Stephan Hartmann am CAS.
