Branden Fitelson is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Rutgers University, New Brunswick.

He is one of the world's leading specialists in formal epistemology, in which logical-mathematical methods are applied to philosophical problems and questions of epistemology. Branden Fitelson, who moved from UC Berkeley to Rutgers last year, is not only the leading figure concerning the study of the logical and probability theoretical characteristics of epistemological confirmation relation, he is also the founder of the extremely successful Formal Epistemology Workshop series, which will take place for the eighth time this year.

In May and June 2011, Branden Fitelson was a visiting fellow at the CAS upon invitation from Professor Hannes Leitgeb. During his residency, he worked together with the staff of the Munich Center for Mathematical Philosophy and held a workshop on probability theoretical methods in philosophy as well as a workshop on computational metaphysics.

In June and July 2012, Branden Fitelson will once again be a guest of Professor Hannes Leitgeb at the CAS as a visiting fellow.
