Prof. Dr. Susanna Elm

Susanna Elm is Professor of Ancient History at the University of California, Berkeley.

Her research includes the Roman Empire, late antiquity and early Christianity, with a particular focus on social and cultural history phenomena as well as ancient medicine. She is the author of numerous monographs and collection volumes, including: Orthodoxie, christianisme, histoire - Orthodoxy, Christianity, History (with Éric Rebillard and Antonella Romano, 2000) and Violence in Late Antiquity: Perceptions and Practices (with Harold A. Drake et al., 2006).

Susanna Elm will be at the CAS from May until July 2013 upon invitation from Prof. Dr. Barbara Vinken (CAS Senior Researcher in Residence 2012/13).
